Contiguous Next to each other, bordering
Region An area in which many features are similar
Relative Location Where a place is compared to other places
Continent A large landmass
Population The number of people in a certain area
Latitude Lines The lines going horizontal on a map
Longitude Lines The lines going vertical on a map
Absolute Location Exact location
Landform Region A region that has similar landforms throughout it
Climate The temperature and weather a place has over a long period of time
Mountain Range A group of connected mountains
Erosion A gradual wearing away of the earth's surface by natural causes
Prarie An area of flat land covered mostly by grasses
Enviroment The surroundings in which people, plants, animals, and living things live
Inlet An area of water extending into the land from a larger body of water
Gulf A large kind of inlet.
Sound A long inlet that separates offshore islands from the mainland.
Tributary A stream or river that flows into a larger stream/river
River System A system of rivers and tributaries
Drainage Basin The land drained by a river system
Fall line A place where land drops sharply to form a waterfall or rapids from a river
Elevation The height of land in relation to the sea
Natural Vegetation Plant life that naturally grows in a place
Arid Dry
Tundra A cold, dry region where trees can't grow
Land use How land is used by people
Natural resource Something found that is naturally created that people can use.
Renewable Resource Resources that can be made again by people or nature
Nonrenewable Resource Resources that cannot be made or will take centuries or even millennia for nature to replace
Modify Change
Irrigation The use of pipes, canals, or ditches to move water
Efficiency Using less energy to do certain tasks
