Archeologists: Dig up objects that have been left by previous civilisation Sometimes objects are deliberately buried or sometimes they are buried as a result of volcanic eruptions,earthquakes and/or wars Look for clues to find an area worth digging up. May be found in the writing from someone in the past. Sometimes areas are accidentaly found during excavation for the construction of buildings,roads, dams and/or railways. Information can be provided by satellite photos or magnetic surveys. Excavation site (on land) is called a 'dig' Once the object (artefact) is found it is investigated, drawn and measured Also investigate bodies. Sometimes the bodies are preserved because of the nature of the environment
