THE POWER OF PURPOSEWhat is Purpose?- The aim or goal of a person; what a person is trying to do, become, etc.- Purpose is the drive people have to become something better or to live greater lives- Purpose must begin with God; we were born by His purpose and for his purpose.- Many people come to life coaches to learn how to live out life well...or better than they are currently doing.BALANCE VS. RHYTHM(Stephen W. Smith: Soul Custody)http://books.google.ca/books/about/Soul_Custody.html?id=dOkyset4oHcC&safe=active - Everything in life points to a need for rhythm instead of balance.---days, month, years, etc.---seasons, tides, etc. etc.ELEMENTS TO A PURPOSEFUL LIFE- Spiritual Development- Physical- Career/Business- Family and Friends (Community)- Finances- Romance/Intimacy- Health/Self Care- Social/FunSPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT- The world see spiritual development much differently than God does.W---what you want most is within your reach and you'll do whatever you believe it takes to get itG---What you want most is beyond your reach and you're trusting God (and only God Himself) for the satisfaction you seek.CAREER/BUSINESS- Purpose in career is work that provides meaning and fulfillment- Focusing on--- how you manage your career instead of what you do--- what needs you want to meet in the world--- how you want to be remembered or thought ofFAMILY AND FRIENDS - Community- Live intentionally in relation to othersFINANCES- Identify what the purpose of your finances are- Does your financial situation control you, or do you control your financial situation?- Is not dependent on much money/material things you possessROMANCE/INTIMACY- Identify what kind of relationship you are called to have- Intimate relationships---transcend the various stages of life---are bigger that either partner or their problemsHEALTH/SELF CARE- What is self care?---Intentional care taken for ones physical, mental, and emotional health---Can be a challenge for some people---Unique for everyoneSOCIAL/FUN- Often seen as something that has no intrinsic purpose- God created us to socialize AND have fun---laughter is part of God's character---"Fun" has generally been redefined from what God originally intended
