    1. Messiah
      1. Greek=Christ
        1. Both mean anointed one.
          1. OT MEANING: Used for people who were se aside to carry a special task
    2. The Jews
      1. Believed that Messiah would come and save them
      2. Two types expected
        1. To be a prophet like Moses.
          1. Other expected a military Messiah, who would drive out the Romans.
        2. 3 occasions that Jesus was referred to as a Messiah-1.in Isaiah 52:13-53:12 When the disciple Peter describes Jesus as the Messiah
          1. 3.Mathew 16:16 he accepts it but warns them to tell no one.
            1. 2.In the Gospels, writer makes it very clear.
          2. Saviour
            1. 'Jesus' means 'God saves' The Jews expected a military Messiah who would overthrow their enemies
            2. Son of david
              1. why was David so fondly remembered?
                1. Was regarded as the greatest King of Israel.
              2. Son of Man has two meanings:
                1. 1. show that Jesus was God but also and ordinary person.
                  1. 2.'Son of Man' is used in the Prophecy of Daniel. To describe a figure of God.
                    1. used In 3 particular cases: When Jesus talked about his ministry.
