Surveillance, prevention and treatment of prearrest conditions- Many of these arrests can be predicted and prevented with proper care and observation.Immediate recognition of cardiac arrest and activation of the emergency response system- Recognize signs of cardiac arrest (abnormal breathing, no pulse). Activate emergency response system.Early CPR with an emphasis of chest compressions- Begin CPR immediately. This can greatly improve chance of survival.Rapid defibrillation- Provide AED assistance as soon as the device is available.Multidisciplinary post-cardiac arrest care- Once ROSC is achieved, patient is provided post-cardiac arrest care in either the ICU or cardiac catheterization lab.
Immediate recognition of cardiac arrest and activation of the emergency response system- Recognize signs of cardiac arrest. Activate emergency response system.Early CPR with an emphasis on chest compressions- Begin CPR immediately. Untrained bystanders may be able to provide chest compressions with guidance.Rapid defibrillation with an AED- Provide AED assistance as soon as possibleEffective advanced life support- ALS teams provide the patient additional care as needed, including 12-lead electrocardiogram, cardioversion, appropriate drugs, and advanced airwayMultidisciplinary post-cardiac arrest care- Once ROSC is achieved, patient is provided post-cardiac arrest care in either the ICU or cardiac catheterization lab.
- Prevention of arrest- Early high-quality CPR- Rapid activation of the emergency response system- Effective advanced life support- Integrated post-cardiac arrest care
