Volk: The peoples community ie. the people
Fuhrer: Leader or Guide
Fatherland: Germany
SS: Schutzstaffel: Protection Squad- the main group that was used to terrorise and intimidate the German people
Dictatorship: A form of government where the leader has absolute control.
Police State: the police had absolute power to arrest
Propaganda: Information that is spread to promote some cause
Concentration Camp: special prisons where people are sent to do forced labour
Hard Labour: Physically demanding work
Forced Instruction: Being told what to think
Death's Head Units: A section of the SS that ran the Concentration camps
Gestapo: The states secret police
Informers: The people who spied on their neighbours
Block Warden: A person who was in charge of a town or block
Ministry of Propaganda: The place that controlled all the media in Germany
Rallies: Large gatherings of people
Coup d'etat: Killing or imprisoning the leader and replacing that person with a new leader
Underground Resistance: People who were secretly fighting and sabotaging things
Passive Resistance: not co-operating with the people in charge
Reich Church: The Church set up by the Nazi Party
Assassination: The murder of an important person
Edelweiss Pirates: Group of young people ho opposed the Nazi Party
The White Rose Group: Young People who opposed the Nazi Party
Reluctance: Not willing to get involved
Oppose: To be against something or someone
Master Race: A race that considers itself superior to all others and fitted to rule others
Social Darwinism: A theory that the laws of evolution by natural selection also apply to social structures
Persecute: Persecution is the systematic mistreatment of an individual or group by another group
Undesirable: Not wanted/ One whose presence is undesirable
Anti-Semitism: Hatred of Jews
