Question Answer
Roosevelt and the Voters Obvious how popular he was - re-elected in 1936, 1940 and 1944 (only President to do so). First President to talk regularly to the people - 'fireside chats'. They were weekly talks - listened by over 60 million Americans.
Weaknesses When FDR cut his measures in 1937, unemployment rose by a lot. He only partially reduced unemployment from 1930s - was fully solved with their entry to WW1 in 1941. US trade didn't recover. Failed to convince his supporters of the need to reform the Supreme Court. Blacks gained very little from the New Deal.
Successes In USA, the Depression didn't lead to extreme movements (communism, fascism) occurring. Millions of jobs were created and vital support to poor and homeless was given. Farming and industry benefitted from increased efficiency in infrastructure (roads, services).
