Memories degrade over time and even though one might believe that certain vivid memories are accurate, most of the time they are not. When designing it is important to remember these things and understand the way people think. Just as there are visual illusions there are also thinking illusions.

For example, while many might remember where they were, what they were doing etc. during the events of 9/11, studies have shown that over time the way we remember things degrades and most of what we believe to be a true memory is wrong.
