Why I'm asking?

With stories, they hint causation. A cause and effect notation with stories, going back to the mental and conceptual models, there is almost no real approximation of what happened. Causation - the relationship between cause and effect.

Understanding the power of Storytelling

People may assume that Joey's mom hurt him, but the story did not mention that. The best way for you to check is asking them to remember the passage. If their response is, "Oh yeah, I read the book. He got beat by his mom." Our thought process is looking for the causation to help make the story appealing when we do this. Go back and listen to the story.
