  1. Ethanoic acid - CH3COOH + ethanol - C2H5OH = Ethyl ethanoate CH3COOC2H5 + water H2O
    1. Esters smell nice but don't mix well with water
      1. They are volatile (unstable, evaporate easily) and they are highly flammable.
        1. Esters do mix well with alcohols and other organic solvents
        2. Used in perfumes. Used to make flavourings and aromas. Some are used as solvents so paint,glue.
          1. Some are toxic.
