Marxist Feminist- a woman who
believes they are oppressed by
both men and capitalism.
Liberal Feminist- someone who
argues that changes have taken
place and believe that there will
be equality if attitudes change
Radical Feminist- someone who believes
that it is men who dominate women
History of Feminism
1st wave of feminism: The
suffragists (NUWSS) and the
suffragettes wanted the right to
vote. The suffragists protested
peacefully by making posters and
putting them around the area. The
suffragettes (WSPU) protested by
chaining themselves to railings and
causing trouble.
1918- women
over 30 were
allowed to vote
1928- women
over 21 gained
the right to vote
2nd wave of feminism
1960-
concentrating on
equal rights in
the workplace .
1970- equal pay
act. however, the
pay is still not
equal, even
today
