Climate
1. Same all year round. 20-28 C. Rainfall is very high
Soil
1. Isn't very fertile. Rain washes nutrients away.
Plants
1. Most trees don't drop their leaves. Many are tall and vegetation cover is dense.
Animals
1. Contains more animal species than any other ecosystem.
People
1. Have adapted to life there, Make a living by hunting, fishing and growing vegetables.

1. Plants
  1. Tall trees competing for sunlight have big roots.
  2. Trees have thin barks as there is no need to protect the trunk from cold temperatures.
  3. Plants drop their leaves gradually through out the year, meaning they go on growing all year round.

  1. Some animals are camouflages
  2. Many rainforest animals can swim e.g jaguars.
  3. Many animals are nocturnal, meaning they feed at night when it's cooler - this helps them to save energy.
Deforestation
1. Commercial Farming
  1. Farming to sell produce for a profit. Cattle and crops. Responsible for 70% of Amazon deforestation.
2. Subsistence Farming
  1. A type of agriculture producing food and materials for the benefit of the farmer.

  1. Building roads and highways.

  2. Causes of deforestation

    2. Companies will pay taxes to the government to improve public services such as education

      1. Chopping down only the tress that have reached full maturity.
    2. Afforestation
      1. Replanting trees that have been deforested.
