  1. Propaganda and censorship
    1. Nazi's used huge amounts of propaganda in form of posters, radio broadcasts, films and through their control of the press
      1. Any anti-Nazi views suppressed through censorship.
        1. Effective because many Germans came to be persuaded by the propaganda and believed the nazis and thus had no reason to oppose their rule
          1. Censorship prevented opposing views even reaching, never mind persuading the people
          2. Generating the climate of fear
            1. Nazi's used the terror methods to enforce their rule.
              1. Gestapo and SS operated above the law and could arrest and torture at will.
                1. Execution or imprisonment in a concentration camp the result.
                  1. People encouraged to 'denounce' each other, creating a climate of suspicion and mistrust
                    1. Effective because most people too scared of consequences to oppose the Nazi's
                      1. Simply not prepared to run the risk of them and their famillies.
                        1. Made Nazi's seem too powerful to be worth opposing
