CRT monitor Based on cathode ray tubes. Length of cathode rays means these monitors are deep and take up a lot of room.
TFT monitor These monitors are much flatter, so they take up less room than CRT monitors. They use liquid crystals to form an image (TFT LCD monitors)
Interactive whiteboard Images are projected on this type of device. They have a touch sensitive surface which allows to be written on using a stylus. It also consist of an handwriting recognition software(which converts hand written text to computer text).
Laser printers Uses laser beams which attracts toner particles and paper passed over a heated fuser unit to melt the toner on the page. Laser printers are available in monochrome and colour
Digital Projectors These can be used to project large version of the monitor output onto screen so that it can be viewed by a larger audience.
Plasma screens Often used as TVs but can be also used instead of normal computer monitors and often seen in public areas.
Mobile Phones screens Most of them come with a software pre-installed to enable Internet access.
PDA Larger screen than mobile phones and acts as a small computer as you run applications softwares. Consist of a touch screen and part of the screen is devoted to a virtual keyboard operated by a stylus.
Inkjet printers These are popular and tend to be cheaper than laser. It consist in 3 ink colours plus black and they work by spraying ink onto paper.
Multi-function printer Have a built-in scanner. This makes it a simple photocopier, suitable for home and office use. It also have fax facilities too.
Laser printer Image is formed on the page using laser beam. Monochrome laser are very popular in offices and other situation where they need high-quality documents printed quickly, where colour is not important. Colour laser printer often uses three colours of toner plus black.It produces clear text and diagrams but when it comes to photographs,it tends to be low resolution and use fewer colours that inkjet printer.
