clay This is an earthly substance mixed with H2O. Essentially it is mud that comes from the edge of a body of water.
ceramics These are objects like plates, cups, bowls that humans make using clay and heating them in a kiln for durability (functional)
kiln An oven for baking clay, it fires at very high temperatures
wedge This means to manipulate the clay in order to remove unwanted air bubbles
relief A projection from the surface.
low relief a smaller degree of lift
high relief a larger degree of lift from base surface
coil a snake-like piece of clay rolled up by hand and used to build sculptures
pinch a small piece of clay used to build sculptures
slab flat pieces of clay
model the same as sculpting
