    Whether you are the manager of a hotel or a chef working in the kitchen, every time you carry out what is required of your job you're making someone's day more valuable.  Choosing a career in the hospitality industry is not for the faint-hearted; the industry revolves around people. You will deal with many different people in various different ways and you need to be prepared to take on the responsibilities that lie ahead.  Work in the hospitality industry can be quite demanding and you need to be ready to take on the challenges that are presented to you. There may be times that you feel physically and mentally drained, but no industry feels more rewarding at the end of the day.

    Communication: speak as how you would like to be spoken to. Communication is important, not only because it is inevitable, but also how it fosters good relations amongst work colleagues. Moreover, it allows the work environment to flow smoothly, tasks to be completed and problems to be addressed promptly when everyone converses in an effective and positive manner.   Helping Others: the hospitality industry is a complex area with many layers of departments and professions. Learn about your own and other's responsibilities in the work environment. This helps you to appreciate the hard work that others carried out and allows you to aid them when challenges arise. Hospitality is a team effort.   Positivity: this will allow each employee to complete tasks in quicker and better manner. While helping develop good relationships with work colleagues and foster greater communication. Further, a positive work environment helps to turn around bad circumstances for the better.

    Keep Calm: sometimes the hospitality industry can feel overwhelming and you feel like there is a million and one things to be done. However, keep calm when under pressure. Think of the situation as an opportunity; focus on the task at hand and take control.    Have Fun: the hospitality industry presents you with so many opportunities and challenges, there will be ups and downs for sure. Nonetheless, make the most of your time in an extremely rewarding and influential industry.

    The Customer:  As the old cliché goes 'the customer is always right' and there is much truth to that statement Customer satisfaction plays an important role and allows you to stand out in a competitive hospitality industry How well you treat the customer will help develop a relationship of trust Good customer service will also reduce the amount of problems you will encounter Addressing customer complaints, for example, through feedback forms, will result in greater improvements regarding criticisms  Remember customers are there for the overall benefit of your business
