But why?

Pastoral scenes are often ideal for humans because they include protection, water, and food. Craving this certain type of beauty has helped our species survive. People are happier and are drawn to looking at pastoral scenes online, but it doesn't have the same physical health effects as a if the person were looking at the scene through a window, or walking through it.
