Question 1

Question
Fingerprint Analysis Study Burden of Proof Forensics Class By taking this quiz you agree that you understand the following: During the course of this study, eight students from the Honors 210 Burden of Proof Class will be testing two groups of subjects: ones with some background in Forensics or Fingerprint Identification training, and ones without any prior training. The laboratory group comprised of the eight students will determine that the current Honors 210 students will be counted in the “students with training” group, and those who have never taken this particular class (nor any other related class/ training session) will be placed in the “students without training” group. The purpose of the experiment is to observe if there is a difference in students’ abilities to identify matching fingerprints based on whether or not they have previous forensic training. As part of this study, each subject will be given ten note cards-- each one with two fingerprints. Some of these note cards will contain two of the same fingerprints (defined as the right thumb by the same person), and others will contain two non-match fingerprints (defined as two prints of the right thumb by two different people). Subjects in each group will be tested on their ability to identify matches and non-matches on the notecards. Subjects should also note that their results will be anonymously recorded (each subject will be named Subject 1, 2, 3,...) and each subject will be timed. As we are working with live subjects, it is imperative that the subjects understand their rights. In this study, subjects will not be harmed, nor will they be working with dangerous chemicals or be placed in hazardous situations. The anonymity of subjects will be protected. By taking this quiz, I confirm that I am enrolled in Honors 210 Burden of Proof and mark that I have received training.
