Atoms:The Nucleus: - Centre of the atom.- Contains PROTONS and NEUTRONS.- Due to the protons it has a positive charge.- Nearly the whole mass of the atom is concentrated in the nucleus. The Electrons:- Move AROUND the nucleus.- NEGATIVELY CHARGED.- Cover a large amount of space, despite small size.-  Practically no mass.- They're arranged in SHELLS around the NUCLEUS.Protons - Heavy and positively charged.Neutrons - Heavy and neutral.Electrons - Tiny and negatively charged.~The charge on the electrons is the same size as the protons, except opposite.~ When an atom becomes charged it is then called an ion.~ There are the same amount of neutrons as protons.
