BRASS Performing media is all instruments/vocals in a piece of music The 5 materials that can be use to produce sounds are Wood, Brass, Metal, Bamboo and Hide. The variation in sound quality is called Tone Colour. Untuned percussion has indefinite pitch Tuned percussion has definite pitch Lip pressure, valves and the slide causes the pitch of the brass instrument to change. A mute is placed into the bell to block he air flow. James Morrison is the most famous Australian brass player. The tuba is the largest brass instrument.

Definitions

STRING Guitar, harpsichord, harp and piano are other instruments which use strings but are often classed as percussion instruments. Resin is used to produce a clean and good sound. The left hand is is used to adjust the pitch of the notes. to soften the sound on a sting instrument, put less pressure on the bow. The two types of reeds are 'the double reed' and 'the single reed'.

Arco: Means to play with the bow.Double stopping: Means 2 strings played together at the same time. Glissando: Means slide from low to high to low. Pizzicato: Means plucking the strings. Tremolo: Means to shake the hand with the bow in it. Vibrato: Shake the hand on the strings.
