Question Answer
Melting The matter changes from a solid to a liquid. Example: Ice cubes turn into water.
Evaporation The matter changes from a liquid to a gas. Example: Water turns to steam.
Condensation The matter changes from a gas to a liquid. Example: Water on the outside of a popcan.
Freezing The matter changes from a liquid to a solid. Example: A lake changes to a frozen lake.
Sublimation The matter changes from a solid directly into a gas. Example: Dry ice at room temperature.
Deposition The matter changes from a gas directly into a gas. Example: Water vapour changes to frost on a window.
Materials Definition: The matter from which a thing is made of.
Matter Definition: Matter is anything that takes up space and has mass.
Properties Definition: Property is what something looks like or how it behaves; helps identify an object or material.
Mass Definition: Is the amount of matter in an object.
Volume Definition: Volume is the amount of space that an object occupies.
Classifying Definition: To arrange in classes or categorize.
Solid Definition: Is a state of matter; a solid has a definite shape and volume its shape does not depend on the shape of its container.
Liquid Definition: Is a state of matter; a liquid flows, has a fixed volume, and takes the shape of its container.
Gas Definition: is a state of matter; a gas takes the shape and volume of its container.
Plasma Definition: Similar to gas; from stars and outer space.
Water Vapour Definition: Water in a gas state in air.
States of Matter Definition: The physical form that matter can take the four states of matter.
Melting Point Definition: The temperature of which a solid melts to a liquid.
Boiling Point Definition: The temperature of which a liquid changes to a gas.
Changes of State Definition: When matter changes from one state to another.
Reversible Definition: Can be changed to its original state.
Non-reversible Definition: Can't be changed back to its original state.
