Settlement	A place where people live. E..g hamlet , village, town or city.
Site	The land on which a settlement is built.
Situation	A settlements location relative to its surroundings.
Shape	The arrangement of buildings within a settlement.
Dispersed settlements	When buildings are spread out. There is usually no obvious centre.
Nucleated settlements	When buildings are grouped closely together. They often form at crossroads or route centre.
Linear settlements	When buildings are either side of a road, in a line.
