PRINCIPLES OF TRAINING S.P.O.R.T
Specificity Training must be specific to the SPORT or ACTIVITY, the TYPE OF FITNESS required and the PARTICULAR MUSCLE GROUPS.
Progression The body adapts to the training it PROGRESS to a new level of fitness. Gradual Increase In Intensity to create and overload.
Overload Training must be raised to a higher level than is normal to create the extra demands to which the body will adapt.
Reversibility Training effects are reversible. If exercise is reduced in intensity or stopped completely then you lose the benefit of it. Determination sets in and muscles lose their tone and size.
Tedium Using a variety of training methods or activities to prevent boredom in training.
F.I.T.T In planning a fitness programme, you need to consider F.I.T.T
Frequency Decide how often to train per week. (Beginners 2-3, Elite 4-5)
Intensity Choose how hard to train.
Type Decide which methods of training to use.
Time Decide for how long to train per session. (Also the time for the whole programme such as how many weeks)
