Kirchhoff's first law	the sum of the currents entering any junction is always equal to the sum of the currents leaving the junction (charge is conserved)
Kirchhoff's second law	in any closed loop circuit, the sum of the e.m.f.'s is equal to the sum of the p.d.'s (conservation of energy)
non-ohmic behaviour	the current is not directly proportional to the p.d. across the component
E.M.F.	the electrical energy _supplied_ per unit charge
Potential difference	the electrical energy _delivered_ to a component per unit charge
electronvolt	1 electronvolt is the wnwrgy transferred to an electron when it is accelerated through a potential difference of 1 volt
photon	a quantom of energy of electromagnetic radiation
superposition	when two or more waves of the same type exist at the same place, the resultant wave will be found by adding the displacement of each wave
