| Why does drought lead to desertification? | The dry soil causes root damage - the lack of root system causes cracks in the soil - when windy the top layer of soil is easily removed / swept away - future rain doesn't soak in as the surface is too hard |
| Why are there fewer pollinating insects as a result of drought? (Hint: there are 2 stages) | Natural plants (not crops) die first so there is not as much pollen for the insects THEN there are few crops as well AND more insecticides to save low yield |
