What is a simile? A comparison between two things, they use the words 'like' and 'as' but sometimes 'than'.
What is a metaphor? Comparison between two things. More extreme than a simile and doesn't mean what that thing actually means.
What is personification? Giving non-human things qualities to things and makes it seem more alive.
What is alliteration? In a sentence or heading that all the start of the letters are the same.
What is onomatopoeia? Words that sound the way that the words describe the sound e.g bang, whiz, pow.
What is repetition? Repeating a vital phrase/words n order to make a point.
What is generlisation? Sweeping statements which make a general comment, usually without much evidence: makes something sound important.
What is facts/statistics? Can be used to convince. A fact is something that can be proven to be true.
What is anecdole? A story which emphasizes your point of view: can be emotional, angry, humorous, sad...
What is emotional appeals/emotive language\\ ? Invite an emotional response- anger, despair, joy etc.
What is inclusive language? Language witch puts us all in the same place. Makes it appear that we all agree on the point brief made e.g we all need to care about our school.
What is a rhestorical question? Questions to which the answer is obvious/unnecessary.
What is a contention? Your point of view or opinion towards that topic.
