What are characteristics of Forming stage ? | People usually work independently. Stage where team members make new friends and get to know each other. Avoidance of conflict. Members are motivated. We can see how each team member responds to pressure. |
What are characteristics of Storming stage ? | Ideas compete for consideration. Members discuss what problems will they try to solve and what type of leadership will they take. Some teams never leave this stage. Some team members sometimes never address big issues. Conflicts will happen. Tolerances and patience should be emphasized. Ideally, team members shouldn't feel judged. |
What are characteristics of Norming stage ? | Team members may give up on their own ideas in order to make team work. Team members have common plan and goal. |
What are characteristics of Performing stage ? | Not all teams get to this stage. High-performing teams are able to function as a unit and with little-to-no supervisory needed. Team members are autonomous. Discussions are expected and allowed as long as they are channeled through means acceptable by team. Supervisors of other teams are always participative at this stage. Some teams go back to previous stages due to some changes or requirements (ex. new leader comes in) |
What are characteristics of Adjourning stage ? | Stage of falling team apart. Letting go of team structure and moving on. Sometimes very stressful, especially if it is unplanned. |
