| Describe the grana. | Stacks of up to 100 structures called thylakoids, within this is chlorophyll (photosynthetic pigment). This is where the first stage of photosynthesis takes place. |
| Describe the stroma. | fluid-filled structure that is where the second stage of photosynthesis takes place. Within the stroma are other structures, such as starch grains. |
