DEMOGRAFHIC TRENDSMUCH OF THE CHANGES IN THE U.S. WORKFORCE OVER THE LAST 50 YEARS CAN BE ATTRIBUTED TO FEDERAL LEGISLATION ENACTED IN THE 1960'S THAT PROHIBITED EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION.WITH THIS LAWS, AVENUES OPENED UP FOR MINORITY AND FEMALE JOB APPLICANTS. THIS 2 GROUPS DRAMATICALLY CHANGED THE WORKPLACE IN THE LATTER HALF OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY. WOMEN IN PARTICULAR, HAVE CHANGED THE COMPOSITION OF THE WORKFORCE AS THEY NOW HOLD SOME 49.1 % JOBS.IF THIS TREND CONTINUES, WOMEN ARE SET TO BECOME THE MAJORITY GROUP IN THE WORKFORCE.
WORKFORCE TRENDS IN THE FIRST HALF OF THE TWENTY FIRST (21) CENTURY WILL BE NOTABLE FOR THREE REASONS:1. CHANGES IN RACIAL AND ETTHNIC COMPOSITION2. AN AGING BABY BOOMERS GENERATION (THOSE BORN BETWEEN 1946 AND 1964)41.5 % OF THE WORKFORCE3.
