Events of the Holy Week - Christianity

Event:                                             Meaning:

Palm sunday:Jesus rode through the town on a donkey and the people lay down palm leaves for the donkey to step on.

Palm Sunday:This shows that although people wanted their messiah to be royal and rich and ride places in a chariot,  they still worshipped him when he rode on a donkey. This also represents peace and the fact that Jesus created peace and equality.

Event:                                 Meaning:

Monday:Jesus was angry with the merchants who were selling goods in the temple so he knocked over their tables.

Monday:This shows that Jesus always stood up to what he believed was right and he also believed that the temple was a place to worship,  pray and not be  market place for people who only cared about money. 

Event:                                 Meaning:

Thursday: Jesus had the last supper with his desiples on this day and drunk wine and ate bread to resemble him.  After this he was betrayed by one of his disciples, Judas and was arrested.

Thursday:This shows Judas' betrayal to Jesus because he was arrested right after he had supper with him. Christians believe this shows that he let people betray him and still Merced them.  Also he told people to remember him by drinking wine and remembering his blood and then eating bread and remembering his body.

Good Friday: On Good Friday Jesus was crucified by the Romans or more specifically Pontius Pilate. 

Good Friday:This is a very important day for Christians because this was the day Jesus gave up his own life to enable others sins to be forgiven. 

Event:                                 Meaning:

Sunday:On the Sunday after Jesus' death one of Mary's friends went to his tomb and found the stone rolled to the side and Jesus' body gone. She later saw Jesus who had risen from the dead.

Sunday:The meaning of this to Christians is that Jesus conquered death and fought good over evil. This also helps them to believe he is the son of God.
