Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel is a businessman and noted philanthropist who has supported job creation and poverty alleviation initiatives in the Middle East and globally.  He is chairman of Abdul Latif Jameel Community Initiatives (ALJCI), which involves numerous programs to address unemployment for Saudi Arabia's youth.  Under the umbrella of ALJCI, Jameel founded Bab Rizq Jameel, a job creation organization with a proven sustainable business model that has helped over 300,000 young Arabs find employment and grants financial support and micro-loans to small start-ups and entrepreneurs. He is also a supporter of The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) at MIT, which takes a quantitative approach to global poverty reduction. Jameel is the president of the Abdul Latif Jameel Co. Ltd. headquartered in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which has Toyota and Daihatsu distributorships throughout the majority of the Middle East. Mr. Jameel is a graduate of MIT, where he earned a degree in civil engineering, and holds an honorary doctorate from Sophia University in Japan.

His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales presented Mohammed Abdul Latif Jameel with an Honorary Knighthood in the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire in an investiture ceremony held at the British Embassy in Riyadh.The ceremony follows an announcement made in October 2014 that Her Majesty The Queen had graciously approved an Honorary Knighthood for Mr Jameel for his philanthropic activities and support for the development of the arts and culture in the UK. Honorary knighthoods are awarded by the Queen, on the advice of the Foreign Secretary, to those who have made an important contribution to British interests.
