Exam Notification - Semester 1

Examination Listening : you will have a listening test in class at the end of week 3 (May 13-18) Written : in the examination timetable during week 4 (May 21-26) you will have an examination lasting 1 and ¼ hours. This examination will include : 2 reading comprehension passages with questions in English to be answered in English A grammar section covering the grammar we have studied this year A creative writing section where you will write about 2 topics we have covered this year Speaking : a 3 minute interview with your teacher on the topics we have studied this year. You will be given a list of questions to prepare which will help you. This year's work so far This year we are using Tapis volant 2 and we will have completed unité 0 – Révision, unité 1 – À la maison and unité 2 – se lever tôt, se lever tard Revision of year 8- our first unit of work was revision of last year's work and involved: Talking about yourself (name, age, physical description, strengths and weaknesses) Talking about your family Talking about your school and what you do there Talking about a town and where things are located and how you get to them Unité 1 - À la maison Talking about household tasks and how often you and others do them Unité 2 - Se lever tôt, se lever tard Talking about yours and others' daily routine. Saying when you do things during the day and on the weekends Grammar You need to be able to use in writing and speaking: - er verbs like regarder,écouter + changing verbs like manger, appeler, emmener - ir verbs like finir - re verbs like vendre, mettre - the most common irregular verbs être, avoir, aller, faire, prendre, sortir (dormir, partir) - reflexive verbs like se réveiller, s'habiller - the imperative : lève-toi! Amuse-toi bien! Ne te dépêche pas! -direct pronoun objects eg tu fais tes devoirs? Oui je les fais après l'école. Il t'écoute? Non, il ne m'écoute jamais -adverbs like bien, mal, beaucoup, maintenant, toujours, rarement, quelquefois etc… SPEAKING QUESTIONS - prepare these thoroughly and they will help you with your creative writing too Qu'est-ce que tu fais chez toi? Qui fait quoi chez toi? Combien de fois par semaine? par mois? aides-tu à la maison? (prépares-tu le dîner? Mets-tu la table?
