MODULE CH4714 : Conductivity, Electrochemical Processes and the Structure of Polymers Aim: To build on the students' fundamental knowledge of physical chemistry. To introduce students to polymer chemistry and extend their knowledge of electrolyte solutions and electrochemical processes. The polymer section covers aspects of polymer synthesis, the kinetics of polymerisation, classification, morphology and structure-property relationships. Students should expect to have a thorough grounding in the basics of physical and chemical properties of important polymer systems. The electrolyte section introduces students to solution non-ideality and explores conductivity in such solutions. Students’ knowledge of equilibrium electrochemistry is extended and they are introduced to dynamic electrochemistry. Electroanalysis and various types of electrodes will also be discussed.
