Day, Night and Seasons
  1. The 4 seasons
    1. Summer
      1. Winter
        1. Autumn
          1. Spring
          2. The Sun
            1. Because the earth is moving, the sun appears to travel from east to west every day
              1. This is because the earth is rotating to the east
              2. In the summer it is high
                1. In the winter it is low
                2. The seasonal tilt
                  1. The Northern Hemisphere
                    1. When the northern part of the earth is tilted it is summer in the northern hemisphere
                      1. When the souther part of the earth is tilted it is winter in the northern hemisphere
                      2. The Southern hemisphere
                        1. When the northern part of the earth is tilted it is winter in the southern hemisphere
                          1. When the southern part of the earth is tilted it is summer in the southern hemisphere
                        2. Years
                          1. A planet's year is the time it takes to make one complete orbit around the Sun
                            1. The Earth goes once round the Sun in one Earth year.
                              1. Thats 365 earth days
                              2. Different planets take different lengths of time to orbit the Sun
                                1. Mercury has a year of just 88 Earth days
                                  1. Neptune has a year of 164 Earth years
                                2. Day and Night
                                  1. A day is the amount of time it takes a planet to complete a full rotation
                                    1. An earth day is 24 hours long
                                    2. The Sun lights up one half of the Earth, and the other half is in shadow
                                      1. The half in shadow is experiencing night and the half in light day
