                    1. NOW IT'S TIME TO START WRITING!
                      1. DESCRIBE IN SECTIONS:
                        1. PARAGRAPH 1:
                          1. Describe the background --> are there mountains...the skyline of a city...a distant lake...a small cottage etc...
                          2. PARGRAPH 2:
                            1. Describe the closer things ---> are you/the person standing next to/ on top of something? What are you doing there?
                            2. PARAGRAPH 3:
                              1. Senses ---> Sight, sound, smell, touch. What is the atmosphere like? If there is a person describe how they feel.
                              2. USE A VARIETY OF VOCABULARY
                                1. AND DESCRIPTIVE TECHNIQUES
                                  1. METAPHORS/SIMILES
                                    1. METAPHOR - Used in the same context as a simile but without the use of as or like.
                                      1. SIMILE - a figure of speech involving the comparison of one thing and another of a different kind. E.g. As strong as a lion.
                                      2. SHORT SCENTENCES
                                        1. Short sentences to create a dramatic effect.
                                        2. 5 SENCES
                                          1. SIGHT
                                            1. A burst of colour exploded over the night sky, devouring all the darkness.
                                            2. SOUND
                                              1. The sound of lapping waves...
                                              2. TASTE
                                                1. my lips burned as the sour, acidic lemon...
                                                2. TOUCH
                                                  1. Millions of tiny fibres pricked the end of my finger.
                                                  2. SMELL
                                                    1. The toxic stench of smoke and gas....
                                                  3. PERSONIFICATION
                                                    1. Giving non-human objects human characteristics. E.g. The wind grasped the note as it jumped from the tree.
                                              3. Remember not to write a "STORY" unless that is the task. You need to describe that snapshot in time not what happens after or before (unless that is asked).
