  1. Born on 13th August 1899 in Leystonstone and is noted to be one of the greatest horror and thriller film directors of all time
    1. He had many notable jobs in his youth and adolescent years such as an estimator for a local newspaper and working for a cable company. he even signed up to fight for Britain in WW1 but was often discriminated against because of his obesity.
      1. Due to his exceptional success in the horror genre he has been dubbed "The Master Of Suspense"
        1. He was knighted in 1979 as a result of his services to the British film industry.
        2. His talents as an artist led to him joining the film industry in 1920, he drew and designed the sets that were used.
          1. His first experience of directing a film came in 1923 when the original director for "Always Tell Your Wife" became unwell and Hitchcock was asked to over see the film's conclusion
            1. The first film he directed from start to finish was "Number 13," also in 1923. It proved to be the beginning of a number of successful films directed by Hitchcock including "The Pleasure's Garden," "The Lodger" and "The Lady Vanishes." This films also prompted the increase of his popularity in the USA.
              1. The pinnacle of his career arrived in 1942 following the release of his latest film "Saboteur" that Hitchcock's fame really grew, his name became more conventional, not just in the UK but also in the USA, people began refering to his films with his name infront of them e.g. "Alfred Hitchcock's Family Plot."

              1. Keeping it simple, the realistic films are normally the most successful because they feel the most real.
                1. Aim to surprise the audience and add lots of tense moments in the film's opening sequence.
