Tom Kirkpatrick

Description

This is a mock assignment I had to create for my program at Laurier University. The purpose is to demonstrate to a grade 6 class ways that our past experiences have affected us and helped us grow to become the person we are today.

  1. My Parents
    1. My Dad
      1. Taught me to always be on time

        Annotations:

        • Always. ALWAYS. We had to be early for events.  Going to Montreal we would leave the house at 5:30, that meant being woken up at 5.  But the positive to this is I always arrive 5 minutes early for a date, or 10 minutes early for work and class. I have not been late to anything since I was 16 (I was late to a drama rehearsal in grade 11 because my mom had to drop my brother off somewhere first).
        1. To be generous with my money

          Annotations:

          • When I was younger my dad used to always give me money before I went on a date.  He used to tell me to make sure my date had a great time.  He also always donates or gives a bit of money to homeless people.  While I could possibly blame him now for my spending habits, I have to also thank him for my generosity, even if my bank account is frequently empty.
        2. My Mom
          1. Taught me Patience and Love

            Annotations:

            • My mom has always been in my corner.  Unconditionally she has supported my decisions, even if she does not necessarily agree with them.  When I changed programs after first year university from Business to History my mom supported me.  In the beginning she was the only one who supported me in this decision and I will never forget that.
            1. Taught me to be generous with my time

              Annotations:

              • My mom does everything for me.  She has taught me that by giving your time to others you make not only them feel happy, but yourself too.  Her endless generosity with her time and affection has rubbed off on me and now I like to help others and fix their problems.

                  2. McMaster University
                    1. My Friends
                      1. Love of History
                      2. High school Football
                        1. Gave me confidence

                          Annotations:

                          • In my grade 12 year I was the MVP of the team.  I played Offensive Line, Defensive Line, Kick Return, Kick Off, and Special teams.  For my hard work I was recognized as the MVP as the team.   Throughout high school I was not very confident.  Earning this recognition helped me gain a lot of confidence in myself.
                          1. Taught me leadership
