Media Theory
  1. Manipulative theory
    1. This theory holds that mass media is controlled by an elite that uses it with the sole purpose of preserving its own position, and therefore submerges a radical agenda in meaningless trivia.
    2. Hegemonic theory
      1. According to this theory, those who work in the media have a particular view due to their education, age, social class etc. They therefore write from a particular perspective, however unconscious their bias might be.
      2. Pluralist theory
        1. This theory states that what individuals choose to read and watch from the wide range of media available is based upon their own outlook and interests. The media, therefore, reflect opinion rather than shape it, thereby reinforcing views that the reader already has.
