Resource summary

Plants and rates of photosynthesis
  1. leaves are adapted for photosynthesis in 3 ways
    1. large surface area to absorb CO2.
      1. chloroplasts contain chlorophyll to absorb light energy.
        1. stomata- allow gases to diffuse in and out of leaf.
        2. 3 limiting factors can affect ROP
          1. CO2 concentration
            1. increasing light intensity has no further effect, so it could be CO2 levels must be in short supply and limiting ROP.
            2. light intensity
              1. increasing light intensity increases ROP so light is limiting factor.
              2. temperature
              3. Photosynthesis equation:carbon dioxide + water----> glucose + oxygen.
