Momentum
Mass x Velocity
KGMS-1
Principle of Conservation of Momentum
In a closed system momentum stays the same in the absence of external forces.
Collisions:
Elastic
Momentum and KE conserved.
Relative speed of approach = relative speed of seperation
Ineslastic
Momentum conserved, KE not.
Relative speed of seperation is 0/unknown.
Newton's Laws
1st: an object will remain at rest / at a constant velocity unless acted on by an external force. Inertia.
2nd: net force = the change in momentum of an object.
3rd: when two bodies interact, the forces they exert on each other are equal and opposite.
Impluse of a force:
The area under a force x time graph
Force x time
