    1. Imperialism: Germany wanting bigger empire, morocco being French caused tension with Germany, in 1906 A-H empire go to Bosnia and Herzegovina to take over
      1. Militarism: countries threatened by other countries race to build weapons and build up arms, more weapons means more soldiers
        1. Economy: the more money a country had the more weapons it could build up and the bigger its empire could be built and industry could be built up too
          1. Alliances: countries forming alliances means they were ready for war which causes others to make alliances. it makes countries that before make an alliance were afraid to go to war because they wouldn't be backed up like Austria Hungary but now were ready to invade Serbia to declare war because they had Germany on their side
            1. nationalism: countries like Serbia wanting independence for the Serbs in Austria Hungary, the Serbs in Austria Hungary wanted to join serbia
              1. assassination: the archduke of Austria Hungary Franz Ferdinand was assassinated by Gavrilo Princip who was hired by a Serbian who wanted the Serbs in Austria Hungary too have their independence
