Nunatak Another name for a microenvironment.
Microenvironment Smaller areas with the same surroundings/conditions inside of areas with similar surroundings/conditions.
Pika Small rabbit/rat like animals that live on mountaintops.
Permafrost Perminantely frozen soil under the ground.
Climate Region The weather conditions over a long period of time in an area with similar characteristics.
Natural Resources Things that God gave humans to use.
Potash Mineral they use to make fertilizer and the top export of America.
Wood Pulp Softened wood fibers that are used to make paper.
Bering Land Bridge A landmass that connected one continent to another and the Paleo Indians walked across it.
Paleo Indians-First Nations- The group of people who came to Canada through the bering land bridge. Cree. Dene, Mohawk, Objibwa, Oneida, and Kwakiutl.
Vikings- A group of men who traveled on ships to discover land and steal from it.
Erik the Red- The leader of a group of Vikings who discovered Canada, but wasn't the first.
Leif Eriksson- Erik the Red's son who discovered Greenland.
Samuel de Champlain- The Father of New France, founded Quebec, and was an explorer.
Colony- Territories controlled by people of foreign lands.
7 Years War- Another name for the French and Indian War and was France v. Great Britain.
Dominion- To have influence over something.
Transcontinental Railroad- Type of Transportation that involved a train which transported people from one side of a landmass to another.
Federation- A group of people/states/nations that have something in common.
Province- Regions that respond to a Central Government.
Urbanization- Moving to the city.
Standard of Living- The degree of wealth and material comfort.
