Impeachment To formally charge an elected official with wrongdoing ; The HOR votes to impeach ; Then if the HOR votes yes there is a trial held by the Senate
Enumerated Powers aka "Expressed Powers" ; powers given only to the Congress & they are listed in Article 1. Section 8
Reserved Powers Powers that are "reserved" for the state govts.
Concurrent Powers "Con" =with Powers shared between the national Congress & the state legislatures EX. power to tax
Writ Of Habeas Corpus Article 1. Section 9 Latin means " have the body" ; Congress can not make a law that takes away a citizens right to " due process of law"
Bill of Attainder Congress can NOT make a law that takes away a person's right to a trial
Article ll About The Executive branch (The President)
Qualifications To Be President 1. Be at least 35 years old 2. A natural born citizen ( born in U.S) 3. Live the United States for at least 14 years
State Of The Union Address The Annual speech given by the president on Jan. 20th about what is happening in the country
Commander - In - Chief The President is over the U.S Military
Article lll About the judicial Branch ( aka Judiciary ) ; very vague ; says there will be a Supreme Court & leaves it up to Congress to create "inferior" courts
Article lV About relationships among the stated ; includes the " full faith & credit clause"
Article V(5) About amending ( changing ) the Constitution ; An amendment must be voted on by 2/3 rd of the Congress & 3/4 th of the states
Article Vl(6) The Supremacy Clause ; says the Constitution & national laws are ABOVE state laws
Article Vll (7) Says 9 of the 13 original states had to vote YES before the Constitution went into effect
