| How could a certain asteroid have caused the cretaceous extinction? | every 26 million years an asteroid comes close to our solar system. it has been observed that a major extinction resulted each time. |
| How could population size have caused the cretaceous extinction? | if the dinosaurs were too successful they could have totally depleted there resources and then died of starvation |
| How could an asteroid could have caused the cretaceous extinction? | during the KT boundary period (the time when the Cretaceous period was ending and the tertiary) levels of the rare element iridium were much higher then normal. This element usually comes in large amounts when asteroids hit the planet. Also, the indented shape of the earths mantle in spots suggests that an asteroid 180-300 km in diameter hit the earth at this time. An asteroid that size would have create a dust and ash cloud that would majorly effect earths climate |

(5) | they could have been caused by a reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere, the change in continental positions, change of earths tilt between 22 and 25 degrees that happens every 41,000 years, changing earths orbit, the uplift of continental blocks, or even sun spots |
