Question Answer
£240 earns 13% interest How much is there? I) use a multiplier: =240 x 1.13 =£271.20
£400 is invested at 6% for 5 years How much is there after 5 years? (no of years) =STARTING AMOUNT X MULTIPLYER (5) = £400 x 1.06 = £5352.90
Upper and Lower Bounds 1) Find the level of accuracy 2) Half this level - This is the tolerance 3) - Add this to find the upper bound - Take it to find the lower bound
2.4 - What level of accuracy has this been rounded off to? 2.4 + 0.5 = 2.45 2.4 - 0.5 = 2.35
Upper and Lower Bounds: To find the biggest and smallest answers Biggest: Upper Bound A / Lower Bound B Smallest : Lower Bound A / Upper Bound B
How to convert a recurring decimal into a fraction Let x = 0.222... Therefore, 10x = 2.222... Subtract these, 10x- x = 9x = 10x- x = 2.222...- 0.222... =9x = 2 so x = 2/9 so 0.222... = 2/9
To find a recurring decimal from a fraction TURN FRACTION INTO SIMPLEST FORM: Find the prime factors of the denominator If they are anything OTHER than just 2 & 5, it is recurring
Is 2/7 Recurring or Terminating? Denominator = 7 Prime factors of 7 = 7 & 1 They are NOT 2 or 5 = 2/7 = Recurring
INterest = INcrease When there is an interest, the value will always go UP.
RULE: Angles in a polygon = (n-2) x 180 e.g. sum of interior angles of a polygon with 20 sides = (n-2) x 180 = (20-2) x 180 = 18 x 180 =3240
EXTERIOR ANGLES: Sum of Exterior Angles in a Polygon = 360 degrees e.g. Triangle : Interior angles = 180 degrees Exterior angles = 360 degrees
Finding the Exterior Angle in a Triangle A + B = C degrees This only works with OPPOSITES OF AN EXTERIOR
Angles on parallel lines: Z Angles Alternate are EQUAL
F Angles Corresponding are EQUAL
C Angles Supplementary angles = 180 degrees
X Angles Opposite angles are EQUAL
Bearings Always measure from NORTH Always go round CLOCKWISE
