Pine Core Quite easy to work Inexpensive Not as strong as other woods Used in floorboards, doors etc.
Larch Core Straight grain; often machined Natural oils protect from fungal growth and water Expensive yet weaker than pine Used in fences, outdoor furniture etc.
Cedar Optional Tough and durable Water resistant and doesn't need to be prepared for outside use More expensive than other softwoods Used in small boats, exterior cladding on buildings etc.
