What are totipotent stem cells? Cells that can differnetiate into ANY type of cell
What are pluripotent stem cells? Stem cells that can form ALL TISSUE TYPES but not whole organisms
What are multipotent cells? Stem cells that can form a range of cell types within tissue.
What are the two sources of stem cells in animals? Embyros Bone marrow
What type of stem cells come from embryos? Totipotent
What type of stem cells come from bone marrow? Multipotent
Where are stem cells found in plant cells? The meristem
Where are meristems found in plants? Tips of roots and shoots (where growth occurs)
What three diseases are stem cells helping now? Heart diease Type 1 diabetes Alzheimers
How do stem cells help cure diseases? They are implanted into damaged areas and divide and form new, specialised cells
