What is the sanctity of Life? The sanctity of life is a umbrella term which covers all about how life if sacred.
"Christian view" Why are humans sacred? Genesis 1:27 "So God created people in his own image, God patterned them after himself."
When do doctors deem abortion to be appropriate? *When the pregnant woman is at risk. *If the mother and baby is at risk. *If there is a chance the baby will end up with disabilities.
What is viability? Viability is when the baby is able to survive outside of the mothers womb.
What do most Christians believe about abortion? A babies life begins at conception, and killing a baby is murder. Their are always other solutions like adoption.
When is abortion acceptable? *When the if the mother/baby is at risk. *If the unborn baby will end up suffering.
Biblical quote on abortion. (Jeremiah 1:5)"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations"
What is the Roman Catholic believe on abortion? *Are opposed to abortion, and believe life beings at conception. *Killing an unborn baby is morally wrong.
What does the Anglican church believe on abortion? *Are usually against abortion but find it acceptable when pregnancy is the result of rape or when it threatens the mothers life.
What does the Methodist Church believe on abortion? *It's always evil, and instead single mothers should consider adoption. *The church will support single mothers, who need help.
Arguments for Abortion. *The 10 Commandments doesn't say "Do not kill" it says "Do not murder." *There are double standards if a mother has a miscarriage there is no funeral, or religious ritual.
What is cloning? When an individual organism i produced asexually from one ancestor, to which they are genetically identical to.
What is therapeutic cloning? When tissues are genetically engineered, often for medical purposes. This is when a stem cell is created from a single cell and is then manipulated into creating organs, and tissues.
Christian viewpoints on cloning. It is unnatural and God created everyone of us to be unique. *The only exception is therapeutic cloning because it can improve health and save lives.
For cloning. *It can speed up evolution. *It can save lives. *IT can help improve scientific research.
Against cloning. *It's against nature, God created each one of us individually and we should not manipulate him. *Does a cloned being really have a soul?
What is IVF? *It is In vitro fertilization, and it gives women who are unable to conceive the chance to have a child of their own. The ovum is fertilized outside the body and then implanted back in again.
Arguments for IVF. *It allows people who unable to conceive a chance to have their own baby. *It's creating another human life.
Name some arguments against IVF? *If you can't conceive on your ow then this is God's invitation to adapt. (Roman Catholic) *RC's allow it if there is no 3rd party involvement and sex isn't replaced in marriage. *Angelica and Quakers are lenient if other methods have been tried.
What is euthanasia? *It is a gentle and easy death;helping someone die.
What are the four types of Euthanasia? *Voluntary: when someone is unable to commit suicide without help. *Involuntary: when someone else makes the decision for the patient because they are unable to. *Active:when the patient is injected with a lethal dose of drugs. *Passive: when the choice is made to stop further treatment.
For euthanasia. *Sometimes it's cheaper and easier to put someone out of their misery. *It's unfair to keep someone alive if they are suffering and unable to live their live how they wish to live it. *We don't get to choose when we arrive so we should have the choice of when we leave.
Against euthanasia. *We all suffer, we should appreciate the life we have been given by God. *It goes against God and nature.
What does the Baptist church believe about Euthanasia? *Against euthanasia the only exception is if the patient is brain dead, and medical experts agree. *All life is worth preserving.
What do the Quakers believe about euthanasia? *They don't have a united view on it, but most people believe that the patient should be allowed to die naturally and with dignity. *Others believe it's a loving action to end the patients suffering.
What do the Roman Catholics believe about Euthanasia? *Against it, and it's thought to be murder. *The pope says "It's a grave violation of the law of God"
What does the Anglican church believe about euthanasia? *People shouldn't be kept alive at all costs, especially when the pain is intolerable. *The old and ill should be made to feel wanted and valuable.
What is a hospice? A hospice is where anyone who is terminally ill can go for care. Workers do everything they can to make the patient feel more comfortable and are given the care they need/deserve.
What is suicide? Suicide is when a person ends their own life.
Why do people commit suicide? *because they are: being bullied, having financial problems, stressed out and feeling lonely.
What are some views on suicide? *It's selfish. *Goes against God and the 10 commandments "Thou shall not commit murder." *Life is a gift from God.
What is stewardship? *The belief that everyone has a responsibility to love and care for the planet.
What day were the animals created on? The 6th day, and because they have been on the planet for longer surly we should look after them.
Why do we test on animals? *To ensure the safety of the drug before we test it on our own species. *So that we can make medical advances in science.
Argument for testing on animals. *We are a superior race, so we should be able to do what we want. *Humans have teeth specially for eating meat so does it really matter that we're testing on them.
Against animal testing. *It hurts the animals there in pain. *It's unfair to them because our bodies work differently to theirs. *Do the animals really wear hairspray in the wild? *Just because we're more powerful doesn't mean we shouldn't look after the animals.
