What are some criticisms of the 'right to die'? -Judging quality of life -The right to die isn't ours -Accepting the right to die is a slippery slope -Puts pressure on those with illness -Easiest way out of responsibility for carers. -Does not provide dignity as it has different meaning to different people
What is 'Sanctity of Life'? The view that life is sacred and special, so we should hold it for as long as we can.
What are some criticisms of the sanctity of life argument? -Life belongs to the individual that lives is so it is their choice if they want to die. -There is no such thing as a slippery slope. -No quality of life. -right to die removes pressure of burden -Commpassion -sanctity of life is not constantly upheld
What are the Christian views of Sanctity of life/right to die? -Complex -Views depend on how far an individual accepts that life is so sacred that it must never be artificially ended. -Some think only god should have the power to end life. -Humans have been given free will
What are some Utilitarian views on the right to die/sanctity of life -Individuals should be able to make their own choice about death, however safe guarding must be put into place so it is not abused.
