  1. 1. The call to prayer
    1. This will be made from the minaret of a mosque in a Muslim country at the required times. In the UK Muslims will set their own times around work and school etc. The call to prayer is called ADHAN. It is made by a MELEZZIN
    2. 2. Wudu (Ablution)
      1. This means "purification". You must be clean to stand before Allah. Wudu demonstrates intention
      2. 3. Getting ready involves
        1. Facing the direction on the Ka'ba, in Makkah.
          1. Using a prayer mat, if practical
            1. Using appropriate and respectful body language
              1. Dressing mosestly
                1. Separating men and women to avoid distraction
                  1. Standing shoulder to shoulder to demonstrate UMMAH (universal brotherhood)
        2. 4. Rakaat (set prayers)
          1. Each salah prayer has different sets of rakkat units of prayer from the Qur'an. some are said out loud, some are said silently
            1. Fajr = morning
              1. Zhur = noon
                1. Ajr = late afternoon
                  1. Maghrib = evening
                    1. Isha = night
          2. 5. The prayer movements
            1. Hands behind ears to signify intent (to listen)
              1. Look at the spot on the ground where you will touch your head
                1. Hands clasped over heart
                  1. Low bow, hands slide down to knees
                    1. Kneel in one fluid movement, hands rest on thighs
                      1. Prostration, touch head to floor, repeat
                        1. Return to kneeling position
                          1. Return to standing position and repeat movements
                            1. End with a look over each shoulder to acknowledge the guardian angels
                              1. Now you may do a silent prayer for as long as you like
